52 Finishes: Week 17- Purple dress + KCWC day 3 & 4

I have had this fabric since Christmas, and loved it so much. Sometimes I really want to use my fabric, but I'm sort of a fabric hoarder too. I just don't want it to be gone! So I finally found a project I was willing to use it for. This cute dress (free pattern and tutoral). I wish I had cut it a little but longer, but I think I'll probably make some leggings for Jayne to wear under it. She's just at a point in her life where seeing her panties isn't necessarily cute, cause she's a little too old. At the same time, she's still young and likes to crawl around and play on the floor. So occasionally wearing a dress isn't always the most modest of clothing choices. (but even when she wears pants her little bum crack usually shows cause she's so thin and her pants just slide right off her!)
Anyway, I used this pattern as a guide, This is my day 4 of the KCWC as well.

This Skirt is my day 3 of the KCWC.  It was simple and easy, which is exactly the kind of project I needed cause the kids were crazy that day.  I think it was something in the water.

KCWC Beatles (Pajama?) Pants

I was a little stuck on what to sew yesterday.  I had a weird day with the kids, they were grumpy and happy, funny and frustrating, tired but awake, hungry but full.  They couldn't really decide what they wanted.  It was all I could do to just go with the flow.  So I didn't have much sewing time.  Last night stuck and I went to my sewing box to see what kind of fabric inspired me.  I ended up with a Beatles T-shirt.  It was a little too small for a full pair of pants, and I wanted to keep the Beatles image as much as possible.  I ended up with one pant leg.  I found an old pair of my sister's pants for the other leg.  But then the top of the pants was too short (cause of the t-shirt neckline) So I found another T-shirt scrap for that part.  Well,  they aren't a work of art, but Jayne seems to love them.  I told her she could have them for Jammie's, but she insisted on wearing them to school today.  Whatever, she would look cute in a paper bag.
and yes, she wore that Elmo sweatshirt to school too.

52 Finishes: Week 16: KCWC Sailor Pants

I got my new issue of Ottobre (3/2011 issue).  There was a pattern for these pants.  So cute!  Their pair was made out of linen, but mine is cotton.  They have a faux button front, and an elastic waistband.
They came together pretty easily. Jayne is really thin but tall, so they look extra baggy on her. I was thinking about making them more fitted, but decided against it. Maybe for the next pair?
Jayne loves them, so much that she wore them to bed last night.  She woke up this morning and said that in her dream she was wearing her new pants.
I went to the fabric store last night to find a red and white striped knit, total no go.  So I ordered some online last night.  I can't wait to make a cute Sailor shirt to match the pants.  But that might be too late for this week.  So I need to figure out what to sew next... hmmm. Probably another pair of pants? Who knows!

KCWC

I'm doing this, so expect to see some fabulous kids clothes this week.  I think I might start with some sailor pants for Jayne, maybe.

52 Finishes: Week 15- Baby Svedin Blessing Dress

My friend Sarah had a baby almost a month ago, and she is a beauty!
I offered to make the little dear a blessing dress. I had a few ideas, and Sarah liked them (well what I described and sketched out on an old envelope). The only problem I had with this dress was finding time to sew it. I really wanted to get it right, and I like to finish a project in one day (or it keeps me up, tossing and turning at night). Well, today i found I had time, so I started working on it. I took a couple breaks (cause I have 2 kids to take care of) but I finished! I think it turned out better than I had imagined.  I made the pattern myself too :)

Max's 1st Haircut

Max is a year old, and we've had plans on giving him a hair cut for about 2 months now.  Somehow it never worked out.  Last night Darick and I were determined.  So we got the clippers out, stripped Max down to just a diaper and went to town.
(before)
He was pretty good.  He really liked the clippers, and wanted to play with the different guards.

Here's a funny story.  When I was pregnant with Max, we had the ultrasound that tells you if you are having a girl or a boy... We found out we were having a boy and Darick and I both said, "oh we'll have to give hair cuts every month!"
