Once Upon a Time...
There was a girl named Little Red Riding hood...
Who was bringing a basket of goodies to her Grandmother.
("Grandmother what a large tummy you have!")
(30 weeks. pregnant...)
On her way there she saw a BIG BAD WOLF!
She quickly got away from him and soon was at Grandmother's house. But the wolf got there first!
The wolf pretended to be Grandmother, and right before he was about to eat Little Red Riding hood...
The woodsman came and saved the day.
Everyone lived happily ever after...
As soon as I put my costume on, Jayne would only call me Grandmother. "Grandmother, don't I look beautiful?" "Grandmother, the wolf is playing with your phone!" We had a fun night getting candy, and explaining who we were :)

52 Finishes: Week 28- Red Riding Hood Coat
Jayne is going to be Little Red Riding Hood for Halloween, and I didn't just want to make her a cape. I wanted something she could wear after Halloween too. So I used a coat pattern from Ottobre Magazine (the 1/2010 issue). I used red corduroy for the outside, and brown fleece for the inside.
The pattern had a collar and not a hood, so I had to make up the pattern for the hood piece.
It has a little pleat be the shoulders, so it sort of covers her a bit more
I think she can wear it until at least December, and then again in the spring. She loves it and wanted to sleep in it. Its so nice that she loves it when I sew for her!

WIP: Chevron Baby Blanket
I'm such a slow knitter that I decided I better give myself a few months to make our little monster a baby blanket. I saw THIS pattern on the purl bee blog and thought it would be easy enough. There are increases and decreases to keep track of, but with some markers, it's not that hard. I've never knit or crocheted a blanket before, so this is kind of a huge project for me.
I like the stripes though, as soon as a get tired of one color- its time to switch! i only have two more colors to do- gray and black tweed. I'm excited to get it finished. I think I would get it done this week, if Halloween goodness didn't need to get done first. Maybe I'll have time this weekend? Until then, I just walk by and feel it. It's so lofty and soft. It will be nice to wrap around the new baby during the upcoming frigid Idaho winter.

52 Finishes: Week 27- Mix N Match People Blocks
Back in April or something, I made these people blocks, I just couldn't share them then because they were for a contest. I just stumbled across my pictures of them and thought I would share then now. They are a set of four blocks, consisting of heads, torsos, legs and feet. You can mix and match them to create funny people. They are sort of like paper dolls, but you just rotate the block.
We have a pirate and a teacher
A rocker and a nurse
And a lawyer and hula girl
So we get a lawyer rocker nurse pirate person... or a pirate nurse hula rocker. There are so many different possibilities, they are fun to play around with.
To make them, I drew the people. Then I painted them with water colors, scanned the pictures onto the computer. Scaled them to the size I wanted, printed them off, cut them up and mod podged them onto the blocks. Seems like a ton of work, but it was pretty fun and easy. I never won the contest I submitted them to, and I really don't understand why not :) To see my other finishes, click HERE
